Ice Out on Lake Winnipesaukee for 2009

March 26th, 2009 by janelmartin

The official Ice-Out is the much anticipated date when the Mt Washington can navigate to all of its ports of call.  Lakes Region Association makes the official call and  has been as early as March 28 and as late as May 12.

We are looking forward to the Ice-Out, and happy that spring has arrived, after such a long winter.  Watch the progress through the web-cams located around Lake Winnipesaukee.

Around the Wakefield Inn the snow is melting and the spring bulbs are breaking through the surface in preparation for their beautiful display.  The animals scurry about, and the deer visit in early morning and at dusk to nibble on the grass that is uncovered. We have a great package to shake off the winter and bring in the spring called “Shake the Cabin Fever”

March 11th, 2009 by janelmartin

Come celebrate National Craft Month…or any month for that matter….at the Wakefield Inn Bed and Breakfast.  We offer a Knit’Inn weekend filled with shop hops to local yarn shops like Rosemary’s in Cornish, ME or the Yarn Basket in Portsmouth, NH.

The 2 night  package Knit’Inn Weekend includes breakfast and dinner, trips to local shops, and plenty of time to chat and knit around the fireplace and visit with friends. Bring along those unfinished projects or start a new one.  We offer the whole Inn for groups and would be happy to create a special weekends for your next knitting retreat.

Wakefield Inn’s Knit’Inn package was recently mentioned in the BNBFINDER.com blog this week titled “Just Make It”.  We also offer similar weekends for quilters and other craft groups interested in coming for a get-away.  We offer a peaceful setting away from the hustle and bustle of the big city, yet we are at the geographical center of New England.  Just give us a call, we love to talk crafty!
