February 28th, 2010 by janelmartin

The Portsmouth Tea Companyhas over 80 varieties of tea at their cafe in Somersworth, NH.  Marshall Malone, the owner and founder, believes in offering the finest teas the world has to offer.  He has traveled the globe to bring back  only the best for a truly divine cup of tea. The Portsmouth Tea Company has black, green, herbal and so much more.

We offer 12 varieties for our guests, and will gladly assist in making the perfect cup of tea to go with breakfast or for relaxing by the fire.  I love Avalanche Rooibos and Vitalize for the afternoon, and nothing gets me going like Irish Breakfast or Earl Grey La Creme in the morning.  We also have small tins in our gift shop for guests to take home and enjoy later, perhaps in a Wakefield Inn mug from Deneen Pottery.

January 4th, 2010 by janelmartin

Grab the kids and spend an afternoon gliding down the mountain on an innertube. Then get pulled up the mountain for another turn. Moose Mountain Recreational Area is only minutes from the Wakefield Inn, and they even have a lodge serving food. The cost is $15pp for 2 hour and up depending on the day.  The days and times vary from week to week, so check out there website for all the details.  My sister and her family went and loved it, I am still hoping to get over their with the kids for a day of fun as well.  They have a restaurant right at the base of the hill, so when the kids get tired and hungry bring them in for some hot chocolate and a snack.

Family Friendly Willowbrook needs our help to stay open.

July 18th, 2009 by janelmartin

To all those who love history, or seeing items from the victorian era, plan a trip to Willowbrook Village.  There is so much to see and do as you walk through over 30 small building filled with historic objects like tools, clothing, musical instruments, etc…  We went with my 3 girls ages 13, 11 and 5 and they all had a wonderful time on thir treasure hunt to find the stamps to put in the book they received at the ticket booth.  They each had a different theme with their own set of objects to find, so they all could enjoy the thrill of the search.

Willowbrook Village also has an antique, working carousel that is one of only two left in the world, and has been carefully restored to its original splendor.  Two times a day they run the carousel for visitors to see it in action, and once a month during the season visitors can take a ride. Wow, does it move fast!

Spend the entire day walking thorugh the village and feel as though you have been tranported back thorugh time. Grab lunch at the cafe or bring your own and enjoy a picnic under one of the big shady trees.  We will be going back many more times, and the Wakefield Inn is now a patron of Willowbrook Village.  Book a stay with us this year and get a free pass to Willowbrook Village.

Willowbrook needs visitors, and members, to keep this fun place to visit open for many years to come.  Become a member for $100 and you and your family can visit as many times as you like for the season.
