Blueberry season in New Hampshire..so many tasty possibilities.

August 4th, 2010 by janelmartin

Blueberries close upI just love blueberries of any kind; high bush, low bush, wild or cultivated.  There are many in New England that are very particular about their berries, I think that each have their own redeeming qualities, and shine in different ways.  The high bush or cultivated kind are easy to pick, easy to freeze, last longer when fresh (that is if you do not eat them all real quick) and make great sauces and jams.  The wild blueberries are fantastic in muffins, scones, pancakes and any application where you do not want to get a large cooked berry squishing out. Wakefield Inn article in New Hampshire ToDo Magazine

May 3rd, 2010 by janelmartin

Hot off the press is the May issue of New Hampshire ToDo, and the Wakefield Innis the featured Inn with a wonderful 3 page article about the Inn, owners and lots of things To Do.  Tim Deal did a great job really bringing across the feel and experience of staying at the Wakefield Inn.  Which for those who have not yet had a chance to check into our comfortable, well appointed guest rooms, the following awaits. Private Baths in each room, library, free WiFi throughout and in the gardens, homemade cookies and fresh fruit, robes, common area for sitting to chat (and the location of the afternoon wine and cheese) and an additional TV room. Oh, did I forget the most important part?

Breakfast is served

Yes, we also have our gourmet breakfast of  seasonal fruit, fresh baked scones (a house specialty) or muffins, and something like a zucchini frittata, omelet or wholegrain waffles with fresh berry compote.  We also have locally roasted coffee from Black Bear Coffee in Tuftonboro, NH and a selection of tea from Portsmouth Tea Company. Fruit juice and warm conversation are also available. Breakfast is served between 8am and 9am, and coffee is flowing at about 5:30am for those, like me, who need a little kick start to your day.

If you are allergic to gluten, soy, eggs, dairy or anything else, or have other dietary restrictions please let us know and we will happily prepare you something equally as scrumptious.
